The 2020 Domaine de la Grenaudière Muscadet Sèvre et Maine Sur Lie is a white wine from the Pays Nantais in the Loire Valley, France, known for its traditional winemaking method. Made from the Melon de Bourgogne grape, this wine undergoes extended sur-lie aging (on lees) for eight months, with regular stirring to enhance its texture and flavor. This process imparts a moreish salinity and a creamy, chewy mid-palate texture to the wine. Its natural high acidity is balanced by the concentrated flavors of apple and citrus, which are characteristic of the best Muscadet wines. This freshness and fruitiness make it a delightful choice. It has been noted for having citrus notes, including lemon, citrus, and lime, further emphasizing its fresh and vibrant character. Domaine de la Grenaudière, managed by brothers Jean-Luc and Guy Ollivier, is situated in the Muscadet Sèvre et Maine appellation. The vineyards, aged between 25 to 60 years, produce grapes that are hand-harvested. The full clusters are then fermented using indigenous yeasts in temperature-controlled stainless steel and cement tanks. This careful and traditional approach to viticulture and vinification reflects in the quality and distinctive characteristics of the Muscadet.
