Marc portaz Apremont tete cuvee savoie 2022

$17.25

The 2020 Domaine Marc Portaz Vin de Savoie ‘Apremont’ Tête de Cuvée is a distinguished white wine from the French Alps. The vines, aged between 30 to 50 years, are located in France's most mountainous region, on the site of an ancient avalanche. This wine is noted for its fruit aromas reminiscent of Sancerre and its complex, mineral-driven flavors akin to Chablis. Employing sustainable farming practices, the grapes are hand-harvested and undergo native yeast fermentation. The tasting notes include green apple, honeysuckle, crushed stones, white pepper, lime, pear, and fresh herbs. The wine is made from the Jacquère variety, a native grape of the region, and has an alcohol volume of 11.5%. The Portaz family has been tending to Jacquère vines in Chapareillan, near Chambery, since the early 1980s. Their "tête de cuvée" or top selection is ‘Apremont’, which translates to "rough mountain" in French. This wine is a tribute to the raw power of nature that characterizes this beautiful region of France. A traditional pairing with this wine is cheese fondue, a specialty of the Savoyard region.
