The Nico Lazaridi Chateau Drama Red is a dry red wine with a Protected Geographical Indication from the Drama region in Northern Greece, Macedonia. This wine is a blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, and 10% Sangiovese. The grapes are cultivated in the local communities of Agora, Pigadia, and Adriani, in the valley and low hills southeast of Drama town, in vineyards situated on moderately sloping ground up to an altitude of 250 meters with a northeast exposure. The wine undergoes classic red wine vinification using the délestage method and is aged for 12 months in oak barrels. It features an alcohol content of 15%, total acidity of 5.25 g/l, residual sugar of 2.73 g/l, and a pH of 3.53. Tasting notes describe it as a charming blend with a deep red color, combining Merlot’s sweet fruity aromas with the density of Cabernet Sauvignon and the finesse of Sangiovese. The wine is suitable for aging up to 6-8 years after harvest and pairs well with grilled meat, game, and cooked dishes with complex sauces, served at 16-18°C
