Aidani Mavro

What is Aidani Mavro?
Aidani Mavro is an ancient aromatic varietal used to produce a dessert wine made from sun-dried grapes. It is grown in small quantities on the islands of Santorini. However, M\oraitis has transplanted it back to Paros. This grape may have middle eastern routes and was the mixture used to produce Malvasia, Greece's most famous medieval wine. Grapes usually mature in late August or early September and its dense clusters of berries are sensitive to oidium. This plant is vigorous. Its semi-aromatic bouquet is reminiscent of jasmine.
